Purchased one of these last winter for my son and have not bought another since then. The item fit fine and my little man liked the thumb holes, but I felt the quality of the fabric was very poor for the price. I am willing to pay for L.L. Bean outerwear, which I believe is outstanding, but when it comes to long underwear for my son I prefer the REI brand as the fabric wears much better and is similar in price.

Ordered a set of this for 10 year old boy and for 13year old girl for Christmas gift. They each love this and talk about how soft it is and how warm. It fits true to size. Very pleased.

I bought this shirt (and long underwear bottoms) for my five year old this past fall. He loves wearing them under his snow suit. They keep him warm without causing him to overheat while he plays in the snow. The higher neck helps keep the heat in while the longer shirt means that once it’s tucked in, it stays in. He also likes to wear them for pjs on chilly nights.

Ordered kids midweight long underwear in blue and purple size Large (14-16). Fit perfect, normally wear women petite XS or size 4P. Purchased to use for hiking, like the thumb palm feature to hold hiking pole and in the cold to keep shirt sleeves inside gloves. Shirt is comfortable, launders well. Only complaint is fabric snags easily.

We got this for our daughter when we're outside having fun in the cold and snow. She said the fit is perfect and she stayed warm all day.

The midweight kids thermal tops and bottoms are SUPER thin. It's hard to believe the these will be "wicked warm" or even warm enough for midweight gear. They are nearly see through. Kids wore them under jeans and sweatshirts in 60 degree barn and weren't too warm. So, I have my doubts that these will actually be warm enough for midweight outdoor use. Wish that the expedition weight kids tops and bottoms were in stock when I purchased. Expected better quality from LLBean, and for the $$.

Even though our kid is 16yo, we still buy her LLBEAN kids' products as they are used as underlayers for alpine skiing. We have been buying her this shirt as well as other base layer products from LLBEAN since she was little. We buy it for the price, as i am really too cheap to spend $60 on a top or more for something that goes under a ski jacket…plus, our kids grow. the ONLY ISSUE i have with THIS PARTICULAR base layer is that they ALWAYS PULL- she wore the XL, 18 as she grew out of her 14-16 sized shirt and although it fit a little large, it was fine by me for that price but it bums me out that she wears it once and it's already pulled across the shirt. it must be a defect in the material or design as every shirt has always pulled- the shirt still provides warmth and it doesn't form a hole- so, in the end, i guess you get what you paid for. i do love the price point and frankly, the base layer is just that- a base layer.
