I’ve seen the other reviews, saying the fit was bad. I was worried. But, when my shorts arrived, they fit truly well, just like the picture showed. I wear between size 8- 10. I ordered a medium, and when it arrived, the fit was perfect. Waist, hips, rise– all just right. I was so relieved that the other reviews were not accurate. My shorts fit just right, just like they looked in the picture online.

I did not have any issues with the fit of these shorts. They do run just a little bit large, not a whole size. I usually wear a size 8 which fits me snugly, and I ordered these in Medium. These fit like a 9, not quite a 10– They are roomy and comfortable. Waist has a little room, so I cinched it up a little bit with the included belt. I kept them, they look nice, and the roomier fit makes me look slimmer. Nice longer length.

High quality workmanship but too much material on the sides for the size. I’m 5′ 3″ tall and wear a size 2. The shorts make me look I have fat hips inside. I won’t be wearing these very often like the other pairs I get from L.L. Bean.

I ordered Tropicwear Shorts in a size medium. I have two pair from previous years and while they may be slightly different, they are clearly the same size. When I received the new shorts, they were at least two inches wider in the waist despite being the same as the older shorts in all other respects. I sent the medium back and reordered a small. It fits fine, and I’m happy; however it’s worth noting that I have not worn a small pant since I was a kid. These shorts are NOT true to size. Size down when ordering.

Great fit, especially for people with straighter hips. The only downsides are that the design of the side pockets isn’t terribly attractive, and it’s extremely right-handed in the extra pockets. It would have been better if there had been cargo pockets on both legs. Overall, I’m happy I bought two pair.

Excellent fabric, lightweight and breathable but tough. Love the zippered pockets (great for amusement park rides), movable fabric for all sports, hiking and biking.

I just bought a second pair of these shorts, because they are my summer staple. The fabric feels substantial without being heavy, and the construction is high quality. I especially like the snap closure at the waist instead of a button. Came out of the dryer looking good.

I love the blue color, the fit and the fabric. They are very comfortable to wear. I also like the multitude of pockets, although the front slash pockets could be a little deeper. I washed them and they didn’t shrink at all. The only real drawback the belt is about 8 inches too long.

Run a little big. The rise is a little too long. I don’t like when you get the fold across the front. Length good. Pockets good. I think I was just a little too short.

I took a chance with these shorts. I also ordered the Vista Trekking shorts which I have in another color so I knew they would fit. These, sadly, are too big. The style is great – they are really nice shorts just too big and I thought a medium would be too small. Thanks, Zappos, for making the return super easy!

I bought these shorts and love them. Lightweight, easy to pack and very comfortable. Great for walking, hiking, and wearing after swimming. They fit my figure perfectly. Plenty of pockets and a great belt.

I often have a difficult time finding LL Bean bottoms that fit right, as was the case trying to find a good pair of cargo pocket shorts. This was the third style I tried and it was a winner. I have found most LL Bean bottoms run smaller than other brands I wear, so I initially ordered the 3X. (I usually wear size 20 or 22 bottoms, depending on fabric and/or style.) There seemed to be too much material so I reordered size 2X, which turned out to be a perfect fit. There is just enough stretch to make these shorts very comfortable and they don’t get baggy. They are lightweight, so perfect for hot summer days. The length is great: not too long and not too short because they come down close to my knees. Finally, I like all of the pockets. I usually use the cargo pocket for my huge key ring and the pocket on these shorts is large enough to hold them. Plus all the other pockets are great for holding my phone, dog treats, poo bags, etc. The Soft Sand is the exact color I needed to add to my wardrobe, too. I hope these shorts are a regular item at LL Bean, especially in basic colors like navy. I am planning to put another pair on my Christmas wish list!
