These boots are kind of a big deal.
I'd been meaning to get a good pair of hiking boots for the last several years, opting to hike in sneakers and thinking that I was fine, oh how wrong I was…these boots are a miracle.
I was hesitant to purchase these without any reviews (there were none at the time) or being able to try them on, but I'm nothing if not a risk taker, so buy I did.
When the box arrived at my door I picked it up and was worried they were the wrong item as I felt any hiking boot able to support my size 10 foot and loose ankles would need to weigh much more to be viable, much to my surprise they were, in fact, my new boots. Light as air and looking pretty cool with the saddle/dark earth color variety I was excited to try them on.
The fit was just right, they were extremely comfortable and I felt like a kid again with my cool new shoes giving me extra super powers…cue moon walking around my apartment.
The most important part of the boot for me was the rise/ankle support. I have what my friends and I call "gumby ankles" anytime I'm out for a walk/hike/run they just roll spontaneously, super cool. I have now been on a handful of hikes with these babies on multiple terrains – snow, ice, mud, rocks, roots, leaves, pavement. I'm happy to report Gumby Ankles: 0 Mountain Classic Hikers: 12
They have great traction, if there's a patch of ice with tiniest twig, pine needle, or spec of dirt for these boots to grip on to you will be staying upright.
Overall Beans has nailed it, they have found a great combo of rugged boot with the feel of a running shoe. I highly recommend anyone looking for a good hiker to try these.

There are three things I look for in a good hiking boot and that is quality, comfort, and style. Luckily I found these cute boots because they check off all three boxes. I love these boots!
Tammy –
Very comfortable and warm. Hope they last many years.
ElzMiller –
Excellent boots. Lightweight but provide good ankle support, plenty of room in the toe box too.
Shepa –
Warm, comfortable and waterproof. This is a great all around light weight, warm boot suitable for walking in damp or light snow conditions.

Love my new hiking boots!! They make my walk in the woods soooooo much easier. The fit is great, and they look awesome!! The delivery even came earlier than expected. Love LL Bean!!!
KeWo –
Good everyday boot. These are comfortable and waterproof.
GMarie –
I have weak ankles and these are just high enough to provide support. I don’t need to wear my ankle supports when wearing these.Very comfortable for everyday wear, not just hiking. Nice rugged sole good enough to pass as snow sneakers.

I have been an avid runner but alas, as I turned 40, I needed to shift to a more low-impact firm of exercise. I started walking, and discovered I loved walking on trails so much, but my running shoes weren’t sturdy enough. I looked at these boots so many times, thinking do I really need actual hiking boots? The answer is yes, yes I do! I can’t believe how much more stable I feel wearing these when walking over roots, rocks, slippery terrain, muddy spots, etc. It took a little getting used to with the high ankle but I know this is what helps with the stability. I like the turquoise accent on the brown boot – it gives it a little feminine flair without being obvious. I typically wear a 9, but ordered a 9.5 as suggested. This was the right choice as I know my feet swell a bit when I run/hike. I’m beyond happy with the boots!

I purchased these boots for a trip to Nevada, Utah and Arizona. The boots have great support, did not hurt my feet (I was walking for at least 5 hours in them), I walked through water and my feet stayed dry. You can also wear them with jeans and they still look good on. If you are planning to hike for hours on end, these are great. I have not worn them in the summer season yet, but in February with some snow, my feet stayed warm.

Very well made, comfortable waterproof hiking boots for women. Wore this pair for hours, feet were not fatigued in the least. Easy to lace up; easy to remove from feet. All stitching very secure on boots. Nice looking hiking boots – not heavy on feet.

These shoes are pretty comfortable. I have a difficult size to fit (size 11 or a little bigger in women’s, but men’s shoes are typically too wide and flat, so I’m stuck trying to find the biggest size of women’s boot they make), and these boots gave me just enough room in the toes so I won’t get into trouble going downhill. After switching out the insoles, I also got just enough arch support that they shouldn’t give me any problems. I deducted a star because I needed to do some fancy lace work to keep my ankle tight enough so I wasn’t slipping around, but so that the top wouldn’t be too tight because the tongue of the boot was digging into the front of my ankle initially, which seemed like more of a design flaw than a fit issue. I’ve worn them on a moderately light backpacking trip (13 miles in 2 days) and so far they seem like they’ll work for me.
Sandy –
Fit well. Comfortable. So far only wore them once on 4 mile hike.
Mary –
A very nice hiking boots, comfortable fit, love the color and great price.

These boots are just plain fantastic!!! I changed 5 times before I found the right hiking boots & these were IT!! I went for a 4.5hrs hike at Breakneck Ridge in upstate NY & if you’re familiar with that trail, you know it’s challenging, rocky & steep. I wore these boots for the 1st time, no break-in time necessary! They felt amazing the whole time with lots of support, traction, bounce & they’re light & stylish!! I’m so so glad I opted for these!! Thank you LL Bean, thank you Zappos!!!

I already owned hiking books, but bought these because I specifically wanted Waterproof boots. I wore them on a rainy hike and my feet were wet when I was done! I was not standing in water, and the hike was in the rain only for an hour or less. NOT WATERPROOF! I have always liked LLBean products before, but these were not as advertised!

These are incredible. I always seem to have to size up to 9 in boots from my true 8.5, but not these! Perfect toe box, tried these with my thickest socks and they are just groovy. Lacing is a total cinch, fast and easy, laces are high quality with some good grit to them as well. Really great design and very pleased overall. Kind of want both colors now…

I bought a pair before these, which by the way are still in fairly good shape, so I bought another pair to have on hand….started wearing them, and was very disappointed to see them start to fall apart. I have had them for about 6 to 6 1/2 months and the sole is pulling off in the front. So now I am hesitant to purchase anymore….but the first ones have been great, and they are super comfortable, but the wear so soon is pretty unacceptable….

Super comfy. Perfect springtime, rainy boot. Fits well, and are beautiful. Compliments first time I wore them out. Plan on keeping them in rotation every season. My only negative would be that there are a little fussy to get on and off. I have to both unlace and loosen and also unzip! Time consuming, but worth it in the end.

I had higher hopes for these boots, but they just do not work for me. The area for your toes and the ball of your foot is so incredibly narrow and tight, my foot felt suffocated. I only wore them once and a mile into my hike I had to turn around and leave because it was so uncomfortable. There is good heel and ankle support. I also got blisters on both sides of my upper ankle after only wearing for those 2 miles.

I wore these in some really rough conditions while exploring West Va caves. They held up through extreme mud, puddles, and climbing on wet and slippery surfaces. And they stayed comfortable all day! I always felt confident when climbing down or up with these boots. Their deep groves make it perfect for traction through a variety of surfaces

Really nice hiking boot! It fit well (size 7) and was comfortable with the first hiking adventure! It’s also very light and is H20 proof!! Highly recommend!
JMPL –
Very comfortable, look and feel great! Got compliments on these shoes from a man in my hiking club who said they look good – he especially liked the colors which unlike this picture have light blue soles and laces. I am really happy with these shoes and will buy them again. I have another pair that is blue and white which have held up well for several years. They give a springy feeling when you walk.
Amy S –
Very comfortable and didn’t need to be broken in – comfy from the start. Very water proof too!
