I am 7-1/2 to 8 in shoe size and bought Medium… perfect fit. OK, maybe a little large, but not by much. First time I put them on, I felt like tiny needles all over, then I realized that I actually liked that… it was stimulating for my feet. I was sorry when the tiny needles feeling disappeared after 15 min or maybe 30 min of wearing them. They held the shape after washing and drying. I like them very much.

I LOVE these socks & wear them all day, every day, all winter BUT I buy them 2 sizes too big knowing that they will shrink. If you never put them in the dryer & only wash cold they probably would stay their original size but there is just no way I’m going to remeber to fish them out of the wash every time. So, I size up, and they are perfect! for reference I wear a womens size 9 shoe & get these in XL.

I’ve been wearing these socks exclusively for many years. Love them. My feet get unbelievably cold and these help tremendously. I wear them every day for three seasons. I heartily recommend them to everyone who suffers from cold feet. The other really great thing is that there is no band of elastic that goes around the top to make them overly tight around my legs. They fit well and do not sag. That’s been problem with other brands, especially with SmartWool socks (too tight at the top). Two things to be aware of are: 1. They do shrink, so size up. 1 size larger should do it. I wear a ladies size 9/ 9.5 shoe and buy the men’s large in these socks. They fit perfectly after shrinking. I wash in cold water but I do put them in the dryer. 2. The thickness of the socks will make your regular shoes fit tightly. Since I wear these every day, I have had to resort to having two pairs of shoes in each style that I own. My “winter” shoes are one half size larger than my summer shoes in the exact same style & brand to accommodate the thickness of these socks. This has made everything much more comfortable, my feet don’t feel squished, and it is totally worth it for me to do this. Others may not feel the need to do this, but this is what works for me, so though I would share this info. The last thing I will add is a request to LL Bean to PLEASE bring back these socks in knee high length. I have a few of these 12-in and 16 in ragg wool Bean socks- they are heavenly! The 16 inch are my favorites. Since they do shrink, they end up losing several inches in length but they work beautifully as knee highs and keep me toasty warm. I keep saying I’m not going to buy any more 10-in and wait for the longer ones, especially the 3 packs on sale, but then I get tired of waiting and give in, buying the 10″ & adding leg warmers to cover the rest of my legs to my knee. They are still good.

These wool socks are amazing! They wash and dry well and are warm and earthy. I got the charcoal ones first in my normal size according to the chart(medium, for my size 9 feet) but had to return for a larger size(large) which was perfect!

By far the best Marino wool socks I have ever worn. True fit, toasty warm. Highly recommened

Love my woolies. Its hard to find real wool socks in Southern California, but I know I can get them from LL Bean. Quality is excellent. Fit is perfect. Hope you keep making them.

These are the real deal. Extremely well made, warm, comfortable

I love these socks. I wear them with my house shoes, and with rain boots. They don’t itch. I sized up to a medium to allow shrinkage because I wanted to be able to wash and dry these in the regular laundry. I think they would be too thick to wear with fitted boots. The toe seams on one pair were a little rough at first but that eased after a few washings.

The best socks I ever had I love then keep feet nice and warm., Dave

Usually back ordered a bit. These wool socks are primo in our family. None better.

This was another last minute purchase before I went on a weekend winter camping adventure. There were some other comments about the socks not being thick enough or not being soft enough. I don’t like uncomfortable clothing and I found these socks to be perfectly comfy and they kept my feet warm and dry.
As a runner I will confess that I wear cotton socks with no sweating or blister issues because other socks always irritated my feet. For winter hiking and camping I did not want to settle for cotton and found these wool socks did not irritate my feet or make them sweat.
Wore these in 30 degree weather and hiked through semi-frozen marshes as well as tall grass.

these socks fit well, so far they have not shrunk from washing, they look nice, and the price was right.

Love these socks. Have purchased for several years. Thick enough to keep feet warm but not so thick that they make your shoes tight. Very well made. I order a size up since they shrink slightly after washed. Nothing beats LL Bean merino wool

I now have 8 pair of these socks in various colors. They wash and dry in the dryer beautifully. Highly recommend.

These socks are essential for anyone who spends winter in the North. Great whether out for a winter hike, snowshoeing, or just sitting in front of the fire. Love these socks.
SRichter –
Really comfy. They are slightly loose fitting but don’t fall down, a perfect combination.
Georgia C –
These socks keep my feet warm even in below zero Farenheit, even when I’m wearing open-toed Birkenstocks.

Bought a few of these socks and really love them so much I plan to go back and buy more. Warm and comfortable to keep my feet from getting too cold at the office. But they also wash and dry in the machine totally fine without shrinking or losing shape like other wool socks have.
Paula –
My favorite socks. The feel of the wool on my feet is lush. Thick. Comforting. Warm.

I’ve been buying these socks since the 80s. I don’t hike in them–I prefer other socks for that. Instead, these are my hanging-around, keep-feet-warm socks. I don’t baby them, though. Often the socks stand in as slippers, which I wear around the house (and sometimes outside) all winter long. They are soft, wash well (I air dry), and the leg/cuff stays up. I’ve never had holes form in them, but they do lose their loftiness over time, and the material can become thin and worn. I think I have purchased every color that’s come out and still have a red pair from 1989. I was happy to pick up a mauve two-pack last year.

Love these socks. Nice and warm and not too tight

Turned out to be a great sock! The brand I liked and used stopped/discontinued their boot rag wool sock. I am diabetic, spend a lot of time outdoors and is not a compression fit which in the past has contributed to edema in the ankles. Their thickness also helps with cushioning and plan on buying more!
