I ordered the 8″ LL Bean boot, non-insulated, in the navy. My usual size is 9 1/2 wide (C-D); I ordered the 9 wide. Fit is wonderful, with medium to thick socks. My only complaint is that the laces were not leather and were way too short. L.L. Bean, an 8″ boot requires at least 60″ length and in keeping with your long tradition of quality, the laces should be real leather or rawhide.

I was so excited for these boots to arrive and was terribly disappointed when I received them and realized I should have ordered the narrow width, and not the medium width (I don’t consider myself to have narrow feet, so this was a bit of a surprise). I ended up returning for the smaller fit; they were easy to exchange, but just be aware that they run slightly wide! I’m usually a 7.5-8, and I ordered a 7 which felt comfortable length wise.

I did what every other review (and the LL Bean website) said to when sizing these boots. Normally I wear an 11 in women's shoes and I ordered a 10 because I didn't want them to be too big. However, LL Bean says if you want to wear full, hiking socks to order your normal size and I would completely disagree. The 10 is big enough for me to wear thick Smart Wool and still has enough room for me to wiggle my toes.
I would suggest going a size down if you are a true to size full size and follow the guidelines for if you are a half size.
On a different note, I love the 8in length and I was really debating between this shoe style and the 6in and am super happy I choose these boots. I am 5'10" and the shorter boots would have looked a little awkward on my long legs.
I switched from my 4 year old Timberlands to these boots and am so excited to wear these for the rest of the fall!

I need to send these back to get a smaller size

I am sad that I couldn’t get my foot into these boots while wearing thick socks. I bought a pair for my mom and she couldn’t get her foot into them while not wearing socks. I have very slim feet and ankles and hers are not as slim. There’s not a zipper on the side – that’s what makes it difficult. Plus they sent me brown ones (instead of navy) which I would’ve kept if they had fit even though they’re not as cute.

Just took my first 1.5 mile walk outdoors with these new boots. I usually wear an 8.5, so I bought an 8 and a 9. The size 8 fit better. My feet are a little narrow, and I have bunions. If it helps, I wear a size 40 in Naot, and almost always wear an 8.5 shoe. These were very comfortable. So glad they are made in The United States! It came with a note inside with the maker’s signature. Thank you, Janet, for making me a very nice boot. Will come in handy when walking dog in slush and rain.

So, I usually don’t write a review right after receiving a product… But my bean boots just came in the mail and I have been walking around my house in them ever since. I was immediately struck by how well these fit!! I have HORRIBLE trouble finding shoes that work for me. I am a size 9.5 Wide width. Very few companies offer my size. I looked at the charts and recommendations for these bean boots, and I purchased a size 9 wide. I was worried that going down a half size would make them pinch the front of my toes. BUT THEY ARE PERFECT! So comfortable, PLENTY of room in the toe box, without being too loose. If you have wide feet, don’t be afraid to buy the bean boots in wide width. Some companies sell shoes in wide width, but they are not truly much different from standard. But these are actually a true wide width and are comfortable too!!! L.L. Bean please keep making wide width shoes & boots!! Consider expanding your wide width options. I love these and will buy other styles if/when they become available! Thanks for the quality product!!

I was a little hesitant to pull the trigger and buy these boots due to concerns about the fit and not knowing how comfortable they would be. However, when I received these boots I was extremely happy as the fit was perfect and they are extremely comfortable to wear all day long (even at my job where I am on my feet for 6+ hours).
I am normally a size 8.5-9 in shoes. I lean more towards size 9 typically. I purchased these boots in a size 8 and they are very comfy and give me plenty of room to wear thicker socks without being too tight. Even when I wear thinner socks, they are a little loose but not to the point of being uncomfortable. Plus, I have received many compliments on these! 🙂
If you are on the fence about these boots, I would say just pull the trigger and give them a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Wore my first pair out, the heel was almost non existent. Had them for several years and loved them. Happy to have a new pair.

I usually wear a 9 or 9.5, and size down purchase an 8 this time. It fits well and hope have a good performance in snowy days.

This fits great! I was torn between ordering a 10 and an 11 b/c I’m usually in between, but an 11 fits perfectly!

They dont even tie like in the pictures. I wanted these because they lace up and tie like a regular shoe. When I got them in I was extremely disappointed. They didnt even come laced. So I had to lace them myself and after trying multiple different types of lace patterns the laces still arent long enough to tie. Ridiculous. I feel like I wasted my money. Am i supposed to buy different laces?

I love these boots! This is my third pair of bean boots and they do not disappoint. I love the unique color.
Cheryl –
Sizing is spot on. Definitely wear a heavy sock for warmth and comfort.
I have seen knock offs of this boot but they are not by any means comparable.
Marie –
These look and fit really great. Can’t wait to walk in the rain wearing these this fall.
Dani –
Super cute boot. Fits well in my standard size with thick socks underneath.
Tammy –
Excellent boots for walking my dog in the fields and trails.
Carol –
Love the 8″ Bean Boot. They are so comfortable. Would purchase again!
Chrissy –
Not insulation at all . Not good for cold weather but great for a raining fall day .
Amy D –
Very comfortable. Fit my wide foot nicely. Cannot wait for snow and colder temperatures to see how warm they are.

Extremely comfortable, cute and functional! It’s not clunky and doesn’t make your foot feel weighted down like my big Sorrel winter boots. I normally wear an 8 and normal width, but after having a baby it’s probably closer to an 8.5. I ordered a 7 based on the sizing guides and it was perfect! I selected ‘true to size’ based off of the sizing recommendations listed by LL bean (meaning, if you go 1 to 1.5 sizes down, it will fit true to size). I have worn them with thick and thin socks, both work and are not too tight. It’s a little hard to pull on because the leather is so fresh, but I’m sure that will ease up with time. Overall I am super happy with these! They are perfect for rain, slush, and light snow.

I previously owned the 8″ Bean boot but my daughter discovered it. So I just bought a second pair. The boot is great which is why I’m buying it again. The fit is good and I can wear it most of the year.

Love my bean boots. Great fit. Wear them for work.

My first pair, because red. Now understand the fuss

These boots are the best! My 5th pair! Make sure you size down one whole size from your regular footwear as stated on llbean site. The leather is stiff but will loosen up with time so be patient. These are unlined so won’t be super warm, these are great for fall and spring. For winter you need to wear a fleece sock. The fit is loose so plenty of room for heavy socks.
